Apple is reportedly looking to enhance its Siri assistant by integrating artificial intelligence models from OpenAI and Anthropic, instead of relying solely on its own technology, according to a Bloomberg report from Monday.
While the tech giant is still working on an internal project called “LLM Siri” that utilizes its own AI models, it seems Apple has reached out to OpenAI and Anthropic for assistance in developing versions of their AI that can operate on Apple’s cloud system for testing purposes.
The company has had to push back the launch of its AI-enhanced Siri, which was initially expected in 2025, now aiming for 2026 or beyond due to various technical hurdles. This delay highlights a growing concern, as Apple has been lagging behind competitors like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the race for advanced AI technology over the past few years.
Currently, Siri can already tap into ChatGPT for more complex inquiries, but Apple is now looking to establish a more comprehensive partnership with external AI technology providers.
