It’s no surprise that the smartwatch industry is booming right now. I mean, just last year, there were about 216.43 million active smartwatch users. Yeah! I’m surprised too, and this is because the smartwatches being made are really high quality. One of the best smartwatch manufacturers is Samsung which shook the world with its Samsung Galaxy Watch. Even though the company wasn’t the one who started the whole trend, they were detrimental to its rise.

After so many years, they’ve released several iterations, each one better than the previous. However, many people are wondering if the smartwatches made by Samsung are better than the watches made by Apple. Today, I’ll be discussing this very topic and giving you my opinion on which one is the best.

5 Differences Between Both Watches

To better understand if the Samsung Galaxy Watch is better than the Apple Watch, we’ll need to examine both of them and come to a conclusion for ourselves. For this very purpose, I’ll pick the two latest and most advanced smartwatches made by the companies.

For the Samsung smartwatch, I’ll pick the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and for the Apple smartwatch, I’ll pick the Apple Watch Ultra. The reason why I’m picking both of these devices is that they’re basically the best watches that either of them has to offer. As a result, you’ll be able to determine which company produces the best watches. However, both of these companies are in my top 5 list of best smartwatch manufacturers, so either way, you’ll be getting the top of the smartwatch.

I’ll be going over 5 key differences between either of them, so make sure to read carefully.

1. Display: 

The very first difference that you’ll notice when looking at both of the smartwatches side-by-side is that the Apple Watch Ultra has a bigger display than the Samsung’s Watch 5 Pro. The Ultra has a 1.92 inches display size which is quite massive, while the 5 Pro has 1.4 inches.

For some, the 1.92 display is perfect because they can easily watch any video or reply to messages directly from the watch. However, not all of them are on the same page because 1.4 inches is a reasonable display size for any smartwatch. Replying to messages and watching videos isn’t difficult.

The display type that both the Apple and Samsung watches use are the Retina LTPO OLED and Super AMOLED, respectively. They both have good screen quality and brightness when it comes to displays.

However, the one thing that I would say about the screens is that the Ultra has a sapphire front making it one of the most durable smartwatches on the market. The Samsung Watch 5 Pro does have a reasonably durable front, but Apple has beaten Samsung in this aspect.

2. Chipset:

Both of these smartwatches have some of the best chipsets available on a smartwatch. The Apple Watch comes with an S8 chipset which is also available in the Apple Watch Series 8. While on the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro comes with a W920 Exynos chipset. 

Despite their high performance, both chipsets can handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Both of them come with a dual-core processor, but the GPU that they use is Mali-G68 for Samsung and PowerVR for Apple.

3. Compatibility:

So far, Apple is relatively ahead, but the next thing that I want to talk about the Samsung Galaxy Watch is its compatibility with smartphones. Normally, Apple smartwatches can’t really connect with smartphones other than iOS (meaning only iPhones). I don’t know if there’s another way. 

However, the Samsung smartwatch can connect with almost all types of Androids, granted that they have the proper software installed. So, no matter if you’re using a Samsung or a Tecno smartphone, you can easily connect with your Samsung Watch 5 Pro.

4. Battery:

Another place where Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro beats Apple Watch Ultra is in the battery capacity category. Even though Ultra comes with a 542 mAh battery and better integration with the iPhones, the 5 Pro has a slightly more battery capacity of 590 mAh.

Although it may not seem like a very significant difference to some, let me explain. Not only is the capacity of the 5 Pro better, but the screen size is also a bit smaller than Apple’s. This means that the screen of the Samsung smartwatch will need relatively less juice to run than Apple.

Additionally, you also get power saving mode on both of the devices, which gives you the ability to extend the battery life. The charging speeds of both smartwatches are also quite good compared to other companies.

5. Price:

The last thing that I want to talk about is the price which is the main contributing factor for each person planning to buy any smart device. Even though Apple Watch Ultra might look like a very appealing option for most people, it isn’t something that everyone can afford.

This is true, especially in Pakistan, where the prices for all Apple smart devices have been rising over the past year. It can easily cost you almost the same as any older version of an iPhone, like a used iPhone 12 Pro Max or a used iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Contrary to that, the Samsung Watch 5 Pro is far less expensive than Apple. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still quite expensive, but when we consider that features and quality of the watch are more than capable of rivaling the likes of Apple, it sure looks like a great choice.

Is Samsung Galaxy Watch Better Than the Apple Watch

Now, with all that said, the big question is: is the Samsung Galaxy Watch any better than the Apple watch? Even though Apple Watch Ultra might have better integration with iPhones and features that attract many users, it’s still not within everyone’s reach. 

While on the other hand, it’s not only the Samsung smartwatch within an average person’s reach but also gives tons of great features. Even the battery life on the 5 Pro is comparable to the Ultra. So, I say that you go for the Samsung watch because it’ll surely live up to your expectations.
