The company speculated that Apple might be pulling text directly from the captions of these screenshots. Historically, only the app’s name, subtitle, and keyword list have contributed to its ranking.<\/span><\/p>\n

The assertion that screenshots impact app discoverability aligns with Apple’s recent announcement at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 25). However, it turns out that Apple’s method for extracting this data relies on artificial intelligence rather than the optical character recognition (OCR) techniques that Appfigures initially proposed.<\/span><\/p>\n

During WWDC 25, Apple detailed how it plans to utilize screenshots and various metadata to enhance app discoverability. The tech giant revealed that <\/span>AI is used to extract valuable information<\/a><\/span><\/strong> that might otherwise remain hidden within an app’s description, category details, or screenshots. This means developers won\u2019t need to manually insert keywords into their screenshots or take extra measures to manipulate tags.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the company, this feature enables Apple to assign a tag for more efficient app classification. Ultimately, developers will have control over which AI-generated tags are linked to their apps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, Apple provided reassurance to developers that before going live, the tags would be subject to review by human personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n
